How to Avoid Burnout as an Entrepreneur

An entrepreneur is a 24/7 gig. Anyone who has been in the position of a small business owner knows it’s tough to balance it all. Burnout is one of the number one complaints of start-up owners and entrepreneurs who want to do it all. Work as personal life begin to meld as networking and other events allow you to grow your brand efforts. You can avoid burnout, but you must be conscious going into each day to make sure your work life isn’t your only life.

  • Set working hours.
  • Opt to check out for a portion of one day a week.

Setting working hours isn’t easy, especially at the very beginning of a company’s conception. There are many legal matters as well as working matters to take care of. Once you have this underway, do your best to set working hours for yourself. This will give you total closure at the end of the work day, so you can enjoy your family or time with friends. Alone time is also a must as an entrepreneur. Whether it’s time spent watching good bad TV or sweating off stress at the gym, you must schedule your working hours so you don’t lose your mind.

Weekends aren’t a luxury every entrepreneur has. However, most can relax for set time for at least once a week. It doesn’t have to be a weekend if that’s a busy day for you. It can be Wednesdays after three. The point is you have a scheduled ‘weekend’ to mentally and physically check out of the work place.
